SiOx inert barrier (Fürstgroup)
Based on a long tradition in toolmaking and plastic injection for food packaging Fürstgroup decide to develop a new process in injected high barrier packaging which will be suitable for the sterilization process. On one side, today we have the experience in injected rigid packaging which is suitable for the sterilizations. On the other side we have the innovation for the SiOx plasma coating process in collaboration with an equipment provider. Actually, this process is already used industrially for filling goods which do not need a thermic process as the sterilization. The challenge of this project is to develop as well a rigid plastic container as to adapt the coating process to the requirements of the thermal treatment. In a second step Fürstgroup have to test how far bio-based resins can be used for this process.
