Mypack project was cited in the Filder Zeitung, a local edition of the Stuttgarter Nachrichten and the Stuttgarter Zeitung. In an online interview, Susanne Braun, Markus Götz, and Tetiana Pavlenko talked about applying biomass (e.g. Chicory roots) in the bioplastics industry and about the main obstacles that bioplastics face when entering the market. In his part of the project, Markus Götz focuses on the processing biomass to the HMF that is an intermediate product in the production of PEF. The advantages of PEF compared to PET are the utilisation of biomass instead of fossil fuels, possibilities to increase products’ shelf life, processing thinner and lighter packaging materials. Price remains as one of the main barriers for bioplastic packaging. It is crucial to conduct proper information campaigns among consumers to show the advantages and added value of bioplastics.
